Okay, really, this will be the last of the Scotland pics from the winter holidays. Must I hammer home the snow and cold? I live in a city of perpetual fog and cloud. It is time to move on to something grey and moody.
Oh and not to harp on about the winter drearies but sunrise on the shortest day is at approximately 8.54am and sunset is at 3.46pm. Uh-huh.
In earnest, all of the "scottish series" are incredible, but this one is to me a really truly stunning work. Moody, reflective, cold, bleak, detailed and just plain 'evocative'.
The lonely scrubby grasses in the front, the cold (and beautifully framed) precipitating skies, and lastly the perfectly implied patchy-snow-covered background hill... and the reflection of the washed out sky in the water, wow!!!
I'm in awe.

I agree with Ken...this one also speaks to me. Love how you painted the wet-in-wet at certain points in the painting. Beautiful! :D
p.s. - might not want to see those links that your friend Susan left you there... they are pretty awesome in their inappropriateness. (is that a word? ). :D

p.s. - Ooops! Not Susan, poor girl! I can't actually pronounce the name of that soul who graced your blog with those links.! Sorry Susan! Read it wrong! :D

Having glimpsed summat smashing in your studio via Wong's email recently, decided to check out your oils this morning - oh my, drool drool! Can't decide which I admire most (and I LOVE them all) : Foggy Harbour, Sea Cliffs, Seaweed Blue or Dandelion Clock 4. Then, of course, one thing led to another and I found myself meandering among your watercolours again on spinyurchin - 2 hours later, what am I doing!? Why aren't I painting?! Hey, guess what though - I bought an art book recently ........
Love Pong.x
